Brethren, when we see something
good we ought to appreciate it. Let’s give the Lord a big hand for that great
talent that the Almighty God has deposited in our midst. Let’s give the Lord a

I know there is someone here
tonight who will see the New Year. (Amen!) If you are that one let me hear you

whatever the Holy Spirit wants us to do. If He wants us to dance throughout

wait for 2 weeks time before my heavens open. According to the first speaker. He
said I can have my miracle today. So I want my heavens to open today. So the
choir have done their own. I want to do my own. I want to sing, I want to dance,
I want to praise God! Are you ready?

wonders (Amen!) Father take us to a new level tonight and take all the glory
Lord. Thank You Father! Blessed be Your Holy Name! In Jesus’ mighty Name we have

All right we want to continue
quickly with Acts 3:1-11. We have been on this chapter now for almost 2 years
and we want to round up tonight so that next year we can move on to something
new. I will read the story briefly, the Yoruba readers can follow
on:
Acts of the Apostles
3:1-10:
1 Now Peter and
John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth
hour.
2 And a certain
man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of
the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the
temple;
3 Who seeing
Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter,
fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave
heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter
said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him
by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones
received strength.
8 And he leaping
up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and
leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the
people saw him walking and praising God:
10 And they knew
that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they
were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto
him.
11And as the lame
man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them
in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
We want to round up the story of
the journey to amazement. And we want to start by taking an overview of the
entire story.
Number One – the man was born lame,
but he did not die lame. The first lesson we want to learn from that is that
whatsoever has a beginning will have an end. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 says to
everything there is season and a time to every purpose under the heaven and then
it went on to say there is a time to be born and a time to die. Everything that
has a beginning must have an ending. If your problem had a beginning that
problem will have an ending today. (Amen!) Even if you were born with the
problem. At least, it means the problem started the day you were born. Or it
started the day you were conceived. Or it started the day your mother got
married. Or it started when your mother or your father was born. One thing is
certain – the problem had a date when it started. And if it had a beginning it
must have an ending. Tell your neighbour: God is
talking about me tonight. Every problem in my life, that had a beginning, will
end tonight. (Amen!) If you believe that say, ‘Amen!’
(Amen!)
The second thing is that they
carried him daily. This man was born lame. I am sure that the parents must have
been disgusted that this boy was born lame. You will notice as we go along that
this man, the name was not mentioned – the parents do not want to be associated
with him because He was a disgrace to the family – born lame! A beggar! A beggar
for the entire life! But there were still people, at least one person, who was
carrying him daily to the gate called Beautiful. That tells you that no matter
how bad your situation may be there will always remain a helper. The elders have
that saying, they say: we may not know who that fellow may be but no matter how
bad the situation, there will remain a helper! But even if there is no human
being that remains with you, God will remain! Psalm 27:10 David said, "When my
father and mother forsake me than the Lord will take me up. In the story that
was told us in the first lecture tonight when Bartemaeus was crying for help, nobody was there to help
him. Everybody told him to shut up but Jesus heard him and Jesus is going to
hear someone here tonight. (Amen!)
And when you read the story in John
11:39 & 40, when Jesus got to the tomb of Lazarus and said: Roll away the
stone! The sisters said: It’s too late for him. He’s finished. He’s been dead.
We’ve buried him. By now he’s stinking. He’s a hopeless case!" There was nobody
left for Lazarus except Jesus Christ. He said: I told you, if you believe you
will see the glory of God." All those who have written you off – they are in for
a surprise! (Amen!) Because there is still someone standing for you – and His
Name is Jesus. When Jairus’ daughter died and Jesus
was talking to the woman with the issue if blood, they came from the house of
Jairus – "Don’t bother Jesus anymore because your
daughter is dead. The only daughter you have is dead! You are going to die
childless! Come home and settle down to sorrow!" Jesus Christ said, don’t mind
them!" If you are here tonight and they have already told you that your case is
hopeless, that you are going to die without a child, that you are going to die
poor, that your sickness has no cure… God will surprise them. I say God will
surprise them!
So they carried him daily and lay
him down at the gate, the gate that is called beautiful. Oh, there is a lot to
learn from that one: they laid him down at the gate that is called Beautiful.
The first thing is that there is a limit to what man can do for you: they
carried him as far as the gate and they dropped him there. The temple is there
but right by the gate, they dropped him. Matthew 19:26 said that there are
certain impossibilities with man but with God nothing shall be impossible. Your
Pastor may be able to help you to a certain limit but then he cannot go further.
The General Overseer may be able to help you to a certain limit but then he
cannot go further. But there is no limit to where God can take you. And I am
confident that tonight is the night of somebody here. (Amen!) Like the man who
started us off said, God is going to step into the case of someone here tonight.
(Amen!)
My father in the Lord during his
lifetime when he was explaining John 14 to us where Jesus said, ‘in my father’s
house there are many mansions, that when I have finished preparing a place for
you I will come for you’, he said, the reason why Jesus will come for us is that
the glory of God is such that the angels cannot go beyond 1000 miles of where
His throne is and still at that distance thy still have to cover their faces. So
for Jesus to take me, to go and sit with Him on the throne – if He sent an
angel, the angel will bring me to a distance of about 1,000 miles and say, I
cannot go further." But He will come for me, He will come Himself, He will hold
me by the right hand and together we will go all the way to the throne! Is He
coming back for anyone else? Let me hear you shout Alleluia!
(Alleluia!)
They carried the man and laid him
down at the gate that is called Beautiful. They called the gate ‘Beautiful’ but
outside the gate there there are all kinds of
problems. They deposited a lame man at a gate that is called Beautiful. They
deposited a beggar at the gate that is called Beautiful. They deposited a man of
poverty, a man of sorrow, a man of despair at the Gate that is called
‘Beautiful’. The gate was called "Beautiful" but problems were there. Revelation
22:15 it said, "without are dogs, dogs." I don’t want to stay without’. I don’t
want to stay outside the temple. I want to be inside! They put this man by the
gate! He couldn’t go further than that and then wherever they dropped him in the
morning, that’s where they would come and meet him in the evening, whether it
rained or shined because he couldn’t move. He was a lame man. He was like
someone who was tied down – until that day when his sun rose. That’s why I’m
confident that today because of something that God is about to do, those who
have been tied down – physically, mentally, financially, martially, spiritually
– they shall be released today in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!)!
You see Psalm 126:1 it says when
the Lord turned the captivity of Zion they were like them that dreamed. I was
sharing with some people, last Tuesday – there is something called captivity –
there are some people who are tied down. Some of them they don’t even know.
Going round in circles, circles, all year round. They can never move forward but
they can go round in circles. It is after they return to where they started that
they discover that they had not made any progress at all. Like the children of
Israel – for forty years they were
travelling in the wilderness. They though that – "ah,
very soon we will get to the promised Land" – but when they came back to where
they started, forty years ago, the Bible said they wept that day! There are many
of us who have been going round in circles. We shall be released tonight in
Jesus’ Name! (Amen!)
And then Peter said to this man,
silver and gold have I not but such as I have give I thee. I wish I have time to
spend on that one alone. Peter said silver and gold have I not but I have
something. It’s so good to know what you have. I know what I don’t have. I know
I don’t have a jet. I know I don’t have a house in V.I. I know I don’t have land
in Bodija. But I know I have Jesus! I say I know I
have Jesus! Is anybody here who has Jesus with me? Let me hear you shout
‘Alleluia!" (Alleluia!) Peter said, I know I have something! I have something. I
don’t have silver, I don’t have gold! But lame man, I have something! I pray
that tonight before you go you will be able to say – I have something!
(Amen!)
What is it that he had? He had
power – the power of the Holy Spirit because in Acts 1:8 Jesus Christ but you
shall receive power when the Holy Ghost is come on you. And in Acts 2:1-4 the
Bible said on that day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came and when the Holy
Spirit came, Peter knew that he has got the Holy Spirit and he has got power. So
he said to the lame man: "I don’t have silver, I don’t have gold, I don’t have
another set of clothes to give you but I have something." Now what does that one
tell you? It tells you that the anointing you require to set you free had been
released 2000 years ago. Tell your neighbour; ‘whether
the devil likes it or not, I’m going to be free tonight! I say I will be free
tonight" The anointing to set you free had been released 2000 years
ago!
Then Peter said to this man, "In
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk!" The man did not move. He
didn’t move until Peter grabbed him by the hand and yanked him up... He didn’t
move because he didn’t believe he could walk. Because he thought, what kind of
joke is this? If you can’t give me money… you’ve told me you have no silver, you
have no gold, go! If I could walk would I be sitting down here begging?" He had
no faith at all. He had no faith, no faith! But he still walked that day. What
does that one tell you? When your day of sunrise comes – even you can’t stop
it! The day that God says your sun is going to rise – even you cannot stop it.
(Amen!) The enemy cannot stop it. Your husband can’t stop it! Your wife cannot
stop it. Your pastor cannot stop it All the demons in the world can’t stop it.
And you can’t stop it yourself! The elders have a saying: Nobody can cover he
sun with his hand." Tell your neighbour –"My sun is
going to rise tonight you know! Something is telling me that it’s me God is
talking about tonight!"
In Matthew 8:1-3 when that leper
came to Jesus he said, "I know you can make me clean but I am not sure you will
be willing!" He had doubts but because his day had come his doubts didn’t stop
him from getting his miracle. When you read 2 Kings 4:8-17 the Bible tells us of
the great woman of Shunem who had been taking good
care of Elisha and then Elisha called her and said, "nine months from now you will
have a baby boy." The woman said, "Man of God don’t lie to me!" That means she
had no faith at all but because her day has come, that very night she conceived.
There’s somebody here tonight that had lost hope that she will ever have a
child. When you get home make sure you take good care of your husband because
today is your day in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!)
And when you read 2 Kings 5:1-14
it’s the story of Naaman. The man of God said to Naaman, "Go and wash seven times in Jordan and he said,
""Me? Wash in River Jordan? That dirty river when there
are better rivers in Samaria!" He was proud, he was angry, he was
furious. But his day has come. Somebody went to him – a servant: "Master if this
man of God had asked you to pay won’t you have done so? All he asked you to do
is wash and be clean!" He said, "That is true oh!" He came down. Dipped himself
seven times in Jordan and was clean. When your day
comes even you can’t stop it. Your doubt can’t stop it. Your unbelief can’t stop
it and your pride cannot stop it. That’s why I’m confident that today is the
day of somebody!
And then this man was expecting
alms not a miracle. He wasn’t expecting a miracle at all because he had no
advance information that his day had come. You see the day of breakthrough
always comes unannounced. There are some of us who came tonight because we have
made up our minds that we will not miss any Holy Ghost Service. Ohh! we weighed it, we almost didn’t come. ‘The festival is
just 2 weeks away, why don’t I wait till that one. Come today and then come
again the week after next one?’ Something said, "Go, go now, what will you be
doing at home? Go!" At that time when that something was saying "Go!" You didn’t
know that it’s saying, "This is your day!" (Amen!) Because the day started like
every ordinary day...... You woke up like you used to wake up. You brushed your
teeth as you used to do – if you ever do! You took your bath – hopefully – if
you’ve got water to wash! Then prayed a little prayer – maybe. You did
everything like you used to do. Unknown to you God had already fixed this day. I
know that God is talking to me now. It’s me that God is talking to
now.
In Exodus 3:1-11 when Moses woke up
that day he didn’t know that his life was going to change. He didn’t know that
the fire was going to burn for him. There was no advance notice at all. If you
read 1 Samuel 16:11-13. Nobody phoned David. No telephone call: "David! A man of
God is here, coming to get you!. David, today is your day. So get ready, take
your bath." No advance notice. All of a sudden while he was looking at the
sheep. Somebody said, "David! You are wanted at home!" "What for?" "I don’t know
but there is a man who looked like a prophet in your father’s house. He said
nobody must sit down until you come." "What have I done?" Well they just say we
should go and bring you." As soon as he arrived. No discussion. Nobody asked him
what is this, what’s going on?" As soon as he came God spoke to the man of God
and said, "That’s him. Arise. Anoint him!" No advance notice and within minutes,
the shepherd became a king. He didn’t even know what was
happening.
Tonight, when God turns your
captivity. You will think you are still dreaming. (Amen!) When you look at that
pain and it’s gone. When you look at the burden you’ve been carrying all these
years that Jesus said he has taken away. For a long time to come you will still
be saying to yourself –"Am I dreaming?" Nobody told Bartemaeus that Jesus was going to pass by that way that
day. Miracles always happen suddenly and I’m sure that some people are already
receiving theirs now. (Amen!)
And then remember what Peter said.
He said, "In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!"
Philippians 2:10-11 the Bible tells us that God had given Jesus a name that is
above every other name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.
Tonight, every problem in your life will bow to the name of Jesus.
(Amen!)
A man sang a song, an old song,
some days ago. It brought tears to my eyes because those who were there don’t
know the implication of that song. The song was … He is able, abundantly able,
to deliver and to save, … He is able, abundantly able, to deliver those who
trust in Him… The man who was singing that song should have died at least eighty
years ago but Jesus said, "no, you are not going to die!" You see, when God is
still on your side, when everybody had lost hope over you, there is still a name
that can pull you out. I mean there is a name that can pull you out because when
God is on your side he will got to any extent to arrange for your deliverance. .
He was singing that song and I know the meaning of that song.
Why?
He was in London. The best doctors
money could buy were looking after him. But there was nothing they could do to
help. He was so sick that when he wants to go to the toilet the brain would tell
the legs – it is time to take this man to the toilet so that he could ease
himself. According to the doctors, the information sent by the brain will now
take 2 hours to reach the leg! It is after 2 hours that the brain said, "Get
up!" that the leg would finally get the information. So you know that man is
almost gone. And I was here in Nigeria when God spoke too me and
said, and said, "Son! Do you want your friend to live?" I said, "Yes, Lord!" He
said, "You better go this weekend. Go this weekend!" "Lord, I don’t like going
to London in the
winter. " He said, "Go, I will give you summer for one week." When God is on
your side, He will do anything. Tell your friend: "There is hope for me!" You
didn’t believe it! Say it as if you mean it!"….
And the Name of Jesus stepped in
and suddenly things began to change. When he sang that song – "He is able,
abundantly able to deliver and to save…" I said, "Yes sir, I know what you are
talking about. Everybody may forsake you. If you still have that Name, that Name
that is above every other name you may still come out of it. I’ve always told my
friends – "Don’t bury me yet. God has not finished with me!" Tell your friend
that one too. "Don’t bury me yet. God has not finished with me!" If you believe
that shout Alleluia! (Alleluia!)
Do you notice that Peter did not
pray? He simply said, "In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and
walk!" Now that tells you one thing straight away. There is a time to pray. Of
course you know, I love prayer. I enjoy praying because by the grace of God,
when I pray God answers. Jesus Christ said in John 14:14, He said, if you ask
anything in my name, I will; do it. But then there is a time when you don’t pray
and you decree when you command! Mark 11:23 – it said, if you have faith and you
doubt not, you shall say to this mountain, "mountain be thou removed and be thou
cast into the sea!" It didn’t say you will say, "Mountain, I pray in the Name of
Jesus, move! "No, no, no! He said you tell the mountain to move and that
mountain will move. Tonight, when it is time to pray, you will be commanding
mountains to move. (Amen!) And all the mountains left in my life will move
tonight! (Amen!)
There’s another point here,
quickly. Do you know that since Peter began to work for Jesus Christ he never
made the lame to walk before? This is the first time that Peter made a lame man
to walk. What does that one tell you? There is always a first-time miracle for a
man! So tonight there’s going to be a first-time miracle happening in my life!
You might have been coming to the Holy Ghost Festival even since we started and
you have received all kinds of miracles – maybe only one problem remains in your
life. Ah! Tonight will be the night God will deal with that one! (Amen!) There
is always a first time, a first time, first time. There was a first time that
Elijah multiplied food. Even the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us in John
2, He performed his first miracle in Cana of
Galilee.
And then what other lesson can we
learn from this? Whenever you come across a problem that is new and unusual you
can be sure that it is a testimony in disguise. If you see a problem you have
not seen before it means you are about to get a testimony you have not got
before. In 1 Kings 17:17-24 when the son of the widow of Zarapheth died, it was anew and unusual problem for Elijah.
But before the end of the day it became a new testimony. That is why whatever
problems may be in your life today will become testimonies very soon. (Amen!)
And of course for those of us who are ready to serve God when you find a new
problem that’s a new opportunity to use your anointing. How will you know that
the anointing God has deposited in you will work unless there is a problem to
work it on? When a new problem comes you can know it’s a new opportunity to use
the anointing.
But one of the most beautiful
points of the story is that this man, this lame man who became an amazement, had
been there for more than 40 years. He was a famous sight or a notorious sight,
whichever way you look at it, by the gate. His problem was well known. That is
why when the miracle came, the testimony became well-known. Those of you who
have become well-known for your problem – very soon you’ll become well-known for
your testimony. (Amen!) The
reason why 7,000 years after Sarah had a baby we are still talking about her is
because she was a barren woman for so long that everybody knew her as the
grandmother that became a mother. So those of you who have been well-known for
your problem – the Pastor knew you; every evangelist that came to town knew you,
only God knows how many prayer requests you have written. And even before you
became born-again only God knows how many of your goats the herbalist had eaten.
Very soon you will stand here and give your testimony. (Amen!) If you believe me
say ‘Amen’ loud and clear! (Amen!)
So the journey to becoming an
amazement starts with an impossibility because this man was born lame and he’s
normally supposed to die lame. His case was an impossibility but with God –
according to Luke 1:37 nothing shall be impossible. So if you believe that you
are also on a journey to amazement you must check your life – what is that
impossibility that is there? And I have told people that if you want miracles
from God and there is no impossibility in your life – create one! Just think,
think of something big, something that cannot possibly happen except God
intervenes and say, "God – this is what I want."
And then another important thing is
that when you are going on a journey to becoming an amazement, you need to take
note of the fact that there must be an appointment with God. Because Peter and
John they were going to church, they were going to keep an appointment with God.
Everybody who ever became an amazement somehow was going to keep an appointment
with God – not with man, but with God. That is why I’m always amazed when some
people said the reason they came to the Holy Ghost Service is because they want
to see the GO! Why do you want to see man when you can see God? How much can man
do? Oh God knows I love people. I love crowd. If I have my way I would shake
hand with every one of you every time you come. But if I shake hand with all
these people… you know by the time I finish you will have to be laying hands on
me. But all God needs to do is just to breathe – and it will touch everybody at
the same time. (Amen!) You don’t need to even talk before He knows what you
need… an appointment with who? God! Oh you know – I must see the GO and then you
get to his house and they say he is sleeping! Why are you wasting your time with
somebody who must sleep when there is Someone who neither sleeps nor slumbers?
(Amen!)
I think I told you I met a note in
the house. Somebody wrote there – if you don’t see me today, I will die before
tomorrow and my blood will be on your neck! And the day he was writing the note
– in Nigeria. I was in Haiti. If you
want to go to Haiti, after
you get to America, you will travel by plane for
another 31/2 hours! I was there dedicating our church! I was not there on
holidays. I was there doing the work of God! And the fellow here wrote – if you
don’t see me today, I will die before tomorrow!!! I came back 2 weeks later and
the fellow is not dead yet! Why must you wait for somebody who must travel, when
there is someone who never goes on a journey? Who are you going to keep an
appointment with today?
An appointment! The woman with the
issue of blood said, "I am going to keep an appointment with Jesus. The man who
was paralytic his friends carried him to keep an appointment with Jesus. Focus
your attention on God. Focus your attention on the One who can do all
things..... The One who made you and can repair you, the One who knows your end
from your beginning. That’s the One you should focus on. I know the problem is
that so many other evangelists in the world want you to come to them. And I can
tell you the reason – either it is that they want something for their belly or
they want to be famous. And that is not going to help you. No man can help you
except God. This man became an amazement because some people were going to keep
an appointment with God. And then Peter touched him.
And it was not the touching of
Peter that solved his problem. It is the God in Peter that touched the man.
Peter alone cannot heal a fish! God showed it to Peter very, very well – that
with all your ability you can fish all night and you won’t catch one. Jesus
said, I am changing you to a fisher of men. This man had an encounter with God.
One single encounter with God and he was transferred from the gate into the
inside of the temple. One encounter with God. In Genesis 18:9-14 Abraham and
Sarah had one encounter with God. And the impossibility of their life became
possible. Mary said to the angel. How can I become pregnant when I‘ve not known
a man? The angel said, "The Holy Ghost will come upon you. You will have an
encounter with God." Tonight when it is time to pray please remember that you
will include in you prayer, "God let me have just one encounter with you. Let me
have an encounter, one encounter - that will settle the
matter."
And then when they finally took
this man by the hand and pulled him up, we found that his journey to becoming an
amazement followed a certain progression. First he rose up – somebody’s going to
rise tonight. (Amen!) will rise from poverty tonight.. (Amen!) rise from
sickness tonight… (Amen!) rise from darkness tonight…. (Amen!) rise from bondage
tonight…. (Amen!) rise form sorrow tonight…. (Amen!)
The Bible tells us on Isaiah 60:1,
it said, Arise shine for your light has come. It is not by accident that God
called this year the ‘year of sunrise’ for some of us. He knows that some of us
will rise. And I’m one of those who will rise! I say I am going to rise. And
then after he rose you now he could have fallen down again but no! He rose and
stood. He didn’t fall down again. He stood! Psalm 40:1-3 it said, "I waited
patiently for the Lord and he inclined unto my prayers. He brought me out of the
miry clay and out of a horrible pit and put my feet on a rock to stay and put a
new song in my mouth." Somebody is going to stand tonight. There are some people
who have been rising and falling, rising and falling. Today you will rise never
to fall again. (Amen!)
So he rose then he stood. And the
next thing is he began to walk. He began to make progress, steady progress. From
tonight onwards somebody will begin to make steady progress. (Amen!) I remember
years ago when they brought one old man to the house. The doctors have told him
he can never walk again, in fact they put the pin into his leg and he didn’t
feel the pain. He didn’t feel the pain at all. So they told him – old man go
home stop wasting your money. You will never walk again. And then somehow they
brought him to the camp and we discussed briefly and the Lord took over. Six men
carried him into the house because he was quite a hefty man. Then we said, now
that we have prayed, walk. The first thing he did was he rose. And he looked at
himself: ’I’m standing.’ He rose and stood and then he took one step and then
the second step and then the third step, and the fourth step...... Somebody’s
going to rise tonight (Amen!) and stand tonight (Amen!) and walk tonight
(Amen!)
Now this man, not only did he rise,
not only did he stand, not only did he begin to walk – the Bible said he began
to leap. He began to leap. In other words he wasn’t making ordinary steady
progress, he was making rapid progress. Somebody’s going to make very rapid
progress tonight! (Amen!) Isaiah 40:31 says that they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength, they shall mount with wings as eagles. Some people
shall begin to fly from tonight. (Amen!) Walking is good. Riding in a car is
faster. Bur flying is best. Some of us are going to begin to soar as from
tonight. (Amen!) You know by the end of this year many of us will have some
fantastic testimonies. (Amen!) We will sit down and be talking about what God
has done in those last month, last month! Because in one month when you are
flying, you can cover a lot of distance.
He rose. He stood – firm. He began
to walk. Then he began to leap. Then he began to praise God. Nobody asked him to
praise God he just found praise coming forth. You see those people who find it
difficult to praise God its is because they have not seen something great. If
they had come close to death and God rescued them. Nobody will ask them to
praise God before they praise Him. If the bank had said they are coming to sell
their home and suddenly God intervened nobody will tell them before they praise
God. I know a man who, whenever everybody is praising God, he’s so dignified he
can’t open his mouth! He doesn’t even believe that it is okay to dance for God.
But one day armed-robbers waylaid him and they put a gun on his head and they
pulled the trigger. But somehow the gun jammed. The bullet refused to come out.
When finally they let him go – suddenly I saw, ah! Who is this man dancing?
Somebody here is going to dance tonight. (Amen!) Because when God turns the
captivity of Zion, the Bible says, then was our mouth filled
with laughter! Somebody is going to praise God here tonight.
(Amen!)
And this man was not just rising,
standing, walking, leaping, praising God – he grabbed Peter with one hand and
John with another hand and said "Wherever you are going, we are going together!"
Somebody’s going to follow Jesus all the way now. (Amen!) He was praising God
and he was following them into the temple. He said, I know I’m still wearing my
beggars’ rag but if they open the door of the temple to you, since I’m holding
the two of you they will open the door to me too! He said, "I’m not staying
outside anymore!" David said "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life because I’m going to dwell in the house – not on the gate – in
the house of the Lord forever!"
And then people began to ask him,
"What happened?" "Ahhh!" he said, "I will tell you! I
was that man tied down there – for forty years. I’m the one begging you for
naira and you have been giving me five kobo, ten kobo. Look at me now!’ He was
testifying. He rose, he stood, he walked, he leaped, he praised God, he followed
them into the temple and he kept on testifying, he kept on testifying. If you
have an encounter with God you can’t keep quiet! No, no, no, no… unless it’s not
with my God that you had the encounter… unless that encounter is not
genuine.
I’ve told you the story before.
Before I became born-again. My number one lover is mathematics. I love my wife
but whenever mathematics have to come into… we know who we will choose and I may
travel several hundred miles to go and see my relatives. As soon as we greet,
for five minutes – "How are you?" This and that. Five minutes, after the five
minutes, if you want me to stay long then leave me alone let me sit down with my
mathematics. I don’t know how to talk. I love to sit sown with mathematics. And
then I became born-again and I had an encounter with Jesus and I went to visit
my sister. We greeted like we used to greet and then I began to say, Sister do
you know only Jesus can save, you know. In the olden days we used to use leaves
and herbs but there is someone who made the leaves and the herbs and he’s more
than able to deliver…" And she looked at me and said: "What happened to you?
What happened to you?" I was eating and testifying. I finished the food and
said, "Can we continue our discussion?" "What happened to you?" I said, Jesus
has come into my life." If He is in you. He will speak. He will speak out. You
can’t keep quiet. No, no, no, you can’t keep quiet!
There may be some of my former
students at the University of Lagos here. They will tell you. When I
finish with teaching mathematics.; the next thing we will talk about Jesus. And
I remember very, very well the story of one girl, the daughter of one famous
Moslem. The father was quite a wealthy man. One day she said to me, "Sir, you
are paid to teach mathematics. Teach mathematics and keep quiet!" I said, "Yes
ma. At least I have told you. But I will keep on telling the others until they
too ask me to shut up."
Then one day she was in the
classroom waiting for me to come and teach. And she looked at her hands and some
people had written something in Arabic underneath the skin. She looked at the
second hand – the same thing. And she cried. "Ah, what is this?" And one of the
students went there and said, "Ah, they’ve got you!" "Who are the ‘they’?" "Oh,
you mean you have not heard about this particular secret society whenever they
want to catch somebody they write under the skin without the fellow knowing? And
after they’ve got you like that, if they ask you to kill your mother you won’t
be able to say no? Ahhh! They’ve got you!’ And the
girl began to yell. And she came to my office: "Please help me!" I said, "Ahhh! Me, I am paid to teach mathematics. My students are
waiting." and I left. She sat down by my office door, rolling on the ground,
weeping. She forgot that she was acada that day. I
finished my mathematics. I now came back and said, "Are you ready to accept
Jesus?" I didn’t have to say that one two times. She gave her life to Jesus. We
prayed a simple prayer. Glory be to God for ever more! (Amen!) She left my
office and went to the hostel and when she took the key to open the door, she
looked at the hand and the writings were gone.
There is a God who is able to save,
to deliver, to set free, to take you from impossibility to amazement. That God
is here tonight. Let me hear you shout ‘Alleluia!" (Alleluia!) The only one who
can leave here tonight without a dramatic change in his or her life is the
fellow who says, "I’m not interested." I am sure God is here tonight. I can feel
His presence like never before. But if you are here tonight and you are not yet
born-again and you want to throw yourself at his feet and say "Lord, have mercy
on me!" You want to have an encounter with him. Come now! He will receive you,
He will forgive you, He will save your soul and today will be your day. Today
will be your day. Shall we all stand please.
If you want to give your life to
Jesus. Come now! Come very quickly! The rest of us let us first of all begin to
thank God that the day has come at last. My day has come at last. Let’s begin to
praise Him.. If you want to give your life to Jesus – come now, He’s calling
you. We have only 2 minutes to wait. After that one we will go on. Come quickly,
the Lord is calling you. This is your day of salvation. Come, come, come He’s
waiting, He’s waiting – to save you, to have mercy on you, to turn the tide for
you! He’s ready to forgive you. He’s ready to make you one of His children
tonight. Come have this encounter with God! Let Him save your soul! Come on now,
He’s calling you! Hurry up He’s calling you!
And as you come, call on Him! Say,
"God, I’ve come to you tonight. Have mercy on me. Save my soul, save my soul!"
Call on Him tonight and the rest of us let’s begin to thank God because our day
has come! It started as an ordinary day but no, no, it is not going to end as an
ordinary day. This is our day! This is our day! This is our day! Come quickly,
come and surrender your life to Jesus! And as you come begin to call on Him:
"Lord have mercy on me! Have mercy on me! Save my soul tonight! Save my soul
tonight!" Begin to come! Begin to come! Come from all over the place – He’s
calling you now! He’s calling you now! He’s calling you now! He’s calling you
now! ….. Blessed be the Name of the Lord forever Thank You Jesus! Blessed be the
Name of the Lord! Thank You Father! Glory be to God! If there is anyone that
still wants to give his or her life to Jesus come now because I’m about to pray
for the salvation of the souls of these people. This is your day of salvation.
Don’t miss this day. So if you are still there in the congregation and you want
to give your life to Jesus, come now, come now! Come very quickly! This is your
day! This is your day! Don’t miss this day. Hurry up now if you know you are
still coming. Don’t let your pride stop you. Come on now. This is your day, this
is your day…
Father thank You for Your Word.
Thank You for Your Word that has gone forth with so much power! Accept our
thanks in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) Your Word says no man can come unto me unless my
Father draws him. Every true Christian is someone who is chosen. If God had not
chosen these people they won’t come forward. Thank you for choosing them.
(Amen!) Accept our thanks in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) Now they have come, my Father
and my God receive them in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) Forgive them in Jesus’ Name!
(Amen!) Your blood that cleanses from all sins let the blood wipe away all their
sins in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) Write their names in the Book of Life and let them
remain your children forevermore in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) And Father, tonight, as
you begin to turn the tide for all of us, as we begin to have encounters with
You, include them also in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) Thank You! My Father Glory be to
Your Holy Name! In Jesus’ mighty Name we have prayed! (Amen!) Amen! Let somebody
shout Alleluia! (Alleluia!)
Now while we wait for our new
brothers and sisters, the first point made tonight is that whatsoever has a
beginning, has an ending. I want you to think, examine your life. Think of all
the problems that had started in your life. From ordinary little headache to the
most serious of problems and tell such things, you had a beginning, you are
ending tonight! You are ending tonight! Go ahead, talk to the Almighty God about
it: You had a beginning so you must have an ending – you are ending tonight! You
have to end tonight! You have to end tonight! In the mighty Name of Jesus you
are ending tonight! You are ending tonight! Surely you had a beginning so you
must end, You must end tonight!……
I want you to lift your hands to
the Almighty God. Thank God that you are a prince, a princess. Let’s bless the
name that you are a prince of the most High God. You are a son of the King of
Kings, you are the daughter of the King of Kings, That your father is the
Almighty, the One who can do everything. Bless His Holy Name!. He’s worthy to be
praised, He’s worthy to be adored. There’s no-one like Him. Oh Yes glorify His
Holy Name. Glorify His Holy Name forever. He’s worthy! He’s worthy! He’s worthy!
He’s worthy to be praised! He’s worthy to be adored! There is no one like Him!
All power belong to Him! He reigns forever and we are His children whether the
devil likes it or not. We are princes and princesses. Oh, yes we are children of
the most High God. We are the children of the King of Kings, Himself. That is
why we are sure it is going to be well with us. Blessed be the Name of the Lord
forever! Thank You Father! Glory be to Your Holy Name!! In Jesus’ mighty Name we
have prayed! (Amen!)
Father we want to thank You for the
first session and we are thanking You in advance for what You are about to do
now. Glory be to Your Holy Name!! Thank You because we know you will surprise us
tonight. We know that from tonight great changes will come into our lives. Thank

When you prophesy to yourself
today, when you declare early in the morning that your heavens are open today –
there’s nothing that the devil can do about it. Throughout that day you will
walk under open heavens. Now the drum is not correct. The others are okay but

Now very quickly – who is the
person who can become an amazement? Who is that fellow who is going to become an
amazement to friends as well as to enemies? I’m sure you know the answer. I am
the one! I say, ‘I am the one!’ But when we look at the story – Acts 3 that we
have been treating from verse 1-11, we discover something very interesting – the
Bible simply said ‘a certain man’. No name, that means the Almighty God left the
place blank so that I can write my name there and if you like you can put your
name there. Who is the One who is going to become an amazement? It is Adeboye no
doubt about that! Glory be to God! That means it can be any one of us. The Bible
says, Acts 10:34-35, it said God is no respecter of persons but in every nation
every one who fears Him and does His will is accepted of Him because God is no
respecter of persons. If He can make anybody an amazement, He can make me an
amazement. Tell your neighbour, "you are sitting next
to an amazement!."
I heard a story about 3 weeks ago
that shook me seriously. 2, 3 students were in the same University and one said
to the second one, "I am working on a project and I need 200 dollars. Please can
you loan me 200 dollars so I can complete this project? " That one said, "This
project! I don’t have money to waste! I can’t lend you 200 dollars." So he
turned to the second friend: "I am working on a project. I think there is
something special in this project. Lend me 200 dollars." That one said, "II
don’t think anything good is going to come out of your project. But because we
are friends, take 200 dollars." So he gave him 200 dollars and he worked on the
project and the project succeeded. Do you know that student that was borrowing
200 dollars to finish his project; his name is Bill Gates, the richest man on
earth today. He borrowed 200 dollars to do the project that has brought him to
the top of the world. The one who loaned 200 dollars to him is one of the
richest men today too because he made him partner in the project. The one who
refused to lend him 200 dollars is one of the poorest men on earth today! What
does that tell you? You don’t know who you are sitting next to. Tell your neighbour. "You are sitting next to an amazement! You are
sitting next to an amazement!" Who is going to become an amazement here? Shout
Alleluia! (Alleluia!)
The second thing about a man or a
woman who is going to become an amazement is that the devil has tied him or her
down very early in life because the devil knows that if this fellow ever gets
loose he will praise God in a great way. As a result he’s moving very fast – let
us tie him before he can get loose! So those of us who had a very rough
beginning that the devil seem to have tortured you so much when we were young
and we are still alive today – congratulations! I say, "Congratulations!" You
see if the devil has any sense at all, he should have killed us while we were
young. But then he tried. It’s just that what God had decreed, nobody can change
it. Just as our song says – when Jesus says ‘Yes!’ nobody can say, "No!’ And I’m
telling those of you who are alive today, the devil has lost the battle. We are
going to become amazements! (Amen!) If you believe that say, ‘Amen!’ loud and
clear! (Amen!)
Who is the one who is going to
become an amazement? Somebody who is so holy that when finally God sets him or
her free, he won’t have any problem jumping for God. Dancing for God will be no
problem to him at all! You remember very well when David was dancing and was
praising God and his stomach came out of his agbada
and the wife looked at him from the window and said, "What kind of king is this,
dancing like this among ordinary people? Remember what David said, "Ah, I’m
dancing for God, the God who took the Kingdom from your father and gave it to
me. I was an ordinary shepherd boy. I never knew I could become what I have
become. Dancing? You haven’t seen anything yet. I will dance more!" Is there
anybody here ready to dance for the Almighty God. If God gives you a
breakthrough tonight are you ready to dance for Him? Let me hear you shout
‘Alleluia!" (Alleluia!)
You won’t believe it but people
have said to me – you are the General Overseer now! Can’t you see the other
General Overseers? You are supposed to behave like one of them – walk like one
of them, behave like one of them! When little boys are dancing, you are not
supposed to dance. If you want to attend at all you should just sit down and let
the small boys dance. I said, "I see, so that they won’t even know whether it is
God they are praising or me!" I said, "Not me. I know without Him I am nothing.
I never knew I could even have shoes to wear. I never knew at all that God could
ever bring me this far. And I know He hasn’t started. So forever I ‘m going to
dance for him. Anybody else who is gong to dance for God? Let me hear you shout
‘Alleluia!" (Alleluia!)
The One who is going to become an
amazement must be ready for hard work. Must be ready for what? Hard work Because
when you become an amazement, amazement has its own responsibilities and the
Bible says in Proverbs 22:29 It says, Seest thou a man
diligent in his business? He will stand before kings and not before mean men.
And in Hebrews 11:6. He said, God is a rewarder of
those who diligently seek Him. Years ago I was praying. When I got to that page
in the Bible that we should covet earnestly the best gifts. I prayed a prayer
then: Father double the anointing of Elisha plus
double the anointing of Peter plus double the anointing of Paul, plus double the
anointing of Jesus when He was here on earth. Add all of them together double it
again – that’s what I want!" And God said… Let somebody shout Alleluia!
(Alleluia!) He’s the one who said covet, covet the best gifts. That’s the only
area in the Bible where covetousness is approved. And God said to me, "Son, you
are asking for trouble. They won’t let you sleep!" I said, "That’s a good kind
of trouble. I want that kind of trouble." How many of you want that kind of
trouble? Let me hear you shout ‘Alleluia!" (Alleluia!)
The one who is going to become an
amazement must be at the right spot at the right time. If that beggar had not
shown up that day his miracle was scheduled, he would have died a beggar. That
is why I thank God for those of you who have been coming to the Holy Ghost
Services without fail – you never know that your day is going to come today.
Because today is your day - whether the devil likes it or not. Because Psalm
84:11 It said the Lord is a sun and a shield, the Lord will give grace and
glory. It said the Lord, no good thing will he withhold from him that walketh uprightly. If you are at the right spot at the right
time then your miracle will meet you right on time.
The one who is going to become an
amazement must be someone who is persistent. Somebody who never gives up. This
beggar had been begging for alms for 40 years. Some people will give him, some
people will not. He kept on begging. He just kept on begging. The one who is
going to become an amazement will keep on praying. 1 Thessalonians 5:17. It
said, Pray without ceasing. Just keep on praying. Some of you will say I have
prayed a hundred times before. – pray one more time. You never can tell when you
will pray the correct one that God will hear. And He is going to answer you
tonight. (Amen!)
I’ve told you when I was in Ilorin, years ago. Every night for six months I kept on
crying to God, "Give me power, give me power! I don’t want to be an ordinary
Christian I want to be a powerful Christian. I want to be a vessel unto honour in Your hands! Lord give me power!" When everybody is
sleeping I kept on crying, that’s the only thing I was crying for. Then six
months later, suddenly I heard Him say, "Shut up!" Ahhh! At least He has answered, even if all He said is "Shut
up!" It shows that I have broken through. Then He said, "the one I have given
you, what have you done with it?" I said, "Lord, if you have given me something,
I won’t be asking for anything else. " He said, "What did the Bible say in Acts
1:8? You shall receive power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Have you been
baptized in the Holy Spirit?" I said, "Yes." "Do you believe my Word?" I said,
"Yes. But I don’t feel it!" He said, "I didn’t say ‘you shall feel power’. I
said, ‘you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you!’" In that
case, the next sick fellow I see, I’m going to lay hand on the fellow. That
fellow will know that this man has got power."
The following morning when I woke
up there was a woman sitting in my sitting room, with a child in her hand? A
member of the church had brought the woman. The child had not slept for 2 weeks.
The doctor had sent the child home to go and die. And this member of the church
said, "Ehhh! Our Pastor will pray for the child, the
child will live!" I don’t know why he didn’t pray for the child himself. As soon
as I came to the living room, here was the woman with the child! And I heard the
Holy Spirit say, "You said the first fellow you see you are going to lay hand in
the fellow… that fellow is going to be healed... They will know that you have
power! " I said, "That was last night. Nobody was there then. This is a
different case. I was expecting somebody with headache or fever or something
small. Not the one that the doctor has committed to, I mean, sent home to die!
But I had nowhere to run to. I mean the woman sitting down there, "Please
Pastor, please!" So I took the child and I began to pray. Of course I closed my
eyes – that’s the way I pray. And as I was praying, the child became limp. I
thought the child had died. I didn’t know that the child had fallen asleep and
that was the end of the sickness. (Amen!) Glory be to God forever
more!
You too will pray! The fellow will
be healed! (Amen!) And the Name of Jesus will be glorified! And your neighbours will call themselves together, "Is this not Mama
Lagbaja? When did you become a prophetess? You say,
"Oh, you don’t know anything! I went to the Holy Ghost Service." "Eh, but you
have always been going!" "This one is different. My heavens are open at last!"
Let me hear somebody shout ‘Alleluia!’ (Alleluia!)
Who is the one who will become an
amazement? Someone after God had given him or her a breakthrough, who will be a
grateful testifier. This man, the moment he got up, remember he has no money
because he was a beggar. But he started by showing everybody, God, I will praise
You! And he went telling everybody, "I’m the man, I’m the lame man. Look at me
now! " Go through the Scriptures. Everyone that God had turned to an amazement,
they are people who always testify. Many of us have received miracles and we
have lost them because we refused to testify. When you read Mark 5:18-21, when
the mad man of Gadara was healed, he told everybody he
met, "I am the mad man Jesus healed me!" As a result, when Jesus went to the
other side a great multitude gathered together to Him because there was somebody
who became an amazement who refused to keep quiet. If you read Luke 5:12-15
Jesus healed a leper and told him to keep his mouth shut. He said, "Yes, Lord!
How can I keep quiet? I was a leper. Now I am clean!" He broadcast round the
whole world – "there is someone who can heal you, there is someone who can
cleanse a leper. Look at me he cleansed me. He spread the fame of Jesus. Jesus
is looking for someone who will be a grateful testifier so that He can turn him
to an amazement. Will He find someone here tonight? Are you sure you will be the
one?
Who is the one who will become an
amazement? Somebody who has no name, so that you can out your name there.
Somebody who is at the right spot at the right time. Someone who is tired of
sitting down at the gate. Someone who says, "No, no, no – if I want to be a
Christian, I want to be Christian, one that the whole world will know. That when
they mention my name they won’t be thinking, "Is he a Christian or not? They
will say, "Ahh! We know that one! Mama Jesu, Baba Jesu!" Someone who will
testify, someone who will become an amazement to everyone around! And I know
some people are like that here tonight. Persistent people, they pray until God
does something and such people are going to pray now. So I want you to stand on
your feet. Don’t pray like anybody else because your case is different. You are
going to become an amazement tonight. And you first
prayer:
Father, I am tired of being very
close to my miracle and not getting it. I’m tired of being at the gate without
getting inside. I want to be the next one to give a testimony. Go ahead, talk to
the Almighty God! I’m tired of being so close without getting my miracle, Father
I want to be the next one to give my testimony! Open you mouth and pray! Thank
You Lord! In Jesus’ mighty Name we pray! (Amen!)
Brethren, the lame man had just one
encounter with God. Two thousand years later we are still talking about him.
Just one encounter. Please cry to God. "Father! Tonight, just one encounter with
You, one encounter with You – that’s all I’m asking for. Just one encounter with
You!" Open your mouth and cry unto God. "One encounter with You Lord! One
encounter with You!" Thank You Father! Alleluia! Lord Thank You Father! In
Jesus’ mighty Name we pray! (Amen!)
Now you are going to talk to daddy
and say, "Daddy, I promise You, I will be grateful. I will testify. I will serve
You but Father, from tonight, make me an amazement to the whole world, an
amazement to my friends, to my enemies, to my relatives - an amazement to the
glory of Your Name Father, make me an amazement, an amazement! All those who
thought I’m already finished make me an amazement to them! Those who thought I
cannot become anything make me an amazement to them! Those who thought this is
how far I can go, I can’t go beyond, Father make them an amazement to them! I
will be grateful, I will testify, I will serve You! Father an amazement to the
whole world. … so that I can serve You like no man before me. Make me an
amazement, my Father and my God, to the whole wide world, an amazement of Your
grace, of your power of Your anointing, of your holiness, of Your purity, an
amazement to the whole wide world Father, make me an amazement! and I will serve
You. Thank You Father! In Jesus’ mighty Name we have prayed!

And you’ll pray another prayer and
say, "Father, beginning from today, let Your heavens open, over me, over my
family, o ver Your church, over Nigeria and during the
Festival O Lord, open the heavens wide!" Let’s pray! Let’s pray brethren! Father
Open the heavens! From now on open the heavens, over me, over my family, over
Your church, over the Redeemed Christian Church of God, over Nigeria Lord! Open
the heavens! And during Your Holy Ghost Festival, O Lord, open the heavens wide
and let there be showers of blessings. Open the heavens Daddy! Over every one of
us my Father and my God open the heavens wide, let there be showers of blessings
that the whole world may know that we are serving the living God. Thank You
Father! Blessed be Your Holy Name Lord! In Jesus’ mighty Name we have prayed!

Now maybe you have a personal
request of your own. Go ahead and talk to God. He’s here now! This is a special
night. Talk to Him now! … Thank You Father! Thank You Lord! In Jesus’ mighty
Name we have prayed! (Amen!) Let somebody say ‘Amen’ loud and clear. One more
time! (Amen!) One more time! (Amen!)
Brethren! The Lord asked me to do
today something that we’ve never done before. Thank You Jesus! You will remember
that Peter said to that man, "Silver and gold have I not but what I have I
give." Now, by His special grace, I have His anointing. Glory be to God! Part of
that anointing is coming to you tonight. (Amen!) And I was saying Lord how do I
get it across? And our God is so wonderful. He said, I should tell you to touch
the ground with your palms open wide, touching the ground where you are. Make
sure you are there right on the ground don’t get up, go down, put your palm flat
on the floor. And He’s asking me to lay my own palms on the altar and to touch
the altar seven times and He said the vibration will go round the auditorium and
reach every one of you. (Amen!) And you should just keep thanking God as I do
what he asked me to do. When I have finish I will tell you. Thank You Jesus!
Sorry sir you have to go on the floor. Now you just begin to thank God now,
begin to thank Him … Alleluia! Father, Blessèd, blessèd, blessèd, blessèd, blessèd, be the Name of

on, whatever you touch shall prosper. (Amen!) From now on the anointing on your

those of you who want hands laid on you, the Lord said there is someone here
tonight who is slated for operation. The Lord said I should call you forward so
that He can do the operation Himself. Glory be to God! If you are the one you
have to hurry up because, I mean the people who have been slated for operation.
Only those who have been slated for operation. Not anyone else. If you have not
been slated for operation. And you come, you have just come to waste your time.

to me carefully. It’s only those that the doctor has already slated for
operation, that should come forward. So if you are not one of such kindly go
back please so that when the problem is being taken out of someone, it will not
be deposited into you. It’s only those that have been slated for operation that
God said should come forward. . That’s all. They are going to lay hands on the
rest of you immediately I finish with these ones. Please don’t get a problem
that is not yours. If you have not been slated for operation please go back now.
I think I’ve made everything clear enough now.
Now the rest of us who are in
front, what Daddy asked me to do is to wave my hand. And when I wave my hand
there might be some of you that he needs to put to sleep to perform the
operation right here and since there are no ushers behind you to catch you, if
you feel yourselves going backwards, go down quickly, go down on your knees so
that you won’t hit the ground too hard. Because there’s nobody behind you to
catch you. Although if you land hard its not going to hurt you at all – the Holy
Spirit is there waiting. Now close your eyes and focus on Jesus. And the rest of
us too, let us begin to pray for them. This is not a show. This is not something
we do just for the fun of it. This is serious business. Oh, Thank You Father! …
In the mighty Name of Jesus. (Amen!)…. Every plant that my Father did not plant.
Be rooted up in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) … Every growth that is not divine – be
uprooted in Jesus’ Name! (Amen!) … every foreigner in the bodes of these your
