Thank You Lord.

Well, why don’t you just go ahead and worship the Almighty God; worship the Ancient of Days,

Give Him glory, give Him honour, give Him adoration,

Bless the King of kings, bless the Lord of lords, bless the Ancient of days.

Give Him glory that He as pleased Him to protect you throughout January and now you are in the second month of the year, bless Him holy name.

Thank You Father; may Your name forever be glorified.

Thank You for January, thank You that we are here again in February, thank You because we know there is glory ahead for all of us, please accept our worship in Jesus’ name.

Tonight, my Father and my God, in the lives of everyone of us, manifest Your glory. That kind of miracle that You will do that for the rest of our lives we will be jumping for joy, Father, perform in our lives.

In Jesus marvelous name we have prayed.

Shake hands with one or two and say God is going to bless you mightily tonight.

And then you may please be seated.  

Now, Colossians 1 verse 27:

27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The sum total of the Christian race is this: ‘at last, we win’.

That is the sum total – from the day you become born-again, from the day Christ begins to dwell in you; the moment you become a child of God, you become a winner.

You are going to win.

In Isaiah chapter 3 verse 10, the Almighty says in His word, say ye to the righteous, it shall be well with it him.

Whether the enemies like it or not, is going to be well with you, you know!

Tell your neighbour, it is going to be well with me whether the enemy like it or not.

Prophesy to yourself loud and clear and say in the mighty name of Jesus Adeboye will laugh last.

You cannot even say that, you cannot even prophesy to yourself!

In 1John chapter 3 from verse 1 to 3, the Bible says, he might not yet appear what you are going to be at the end of the day but one thing is clear when we see the Lord we shall be like Him – and that is serious!

You know, one day, we are going to be exactly like Jesus.

Romans chapter 8 verse 37 says one thing is certain, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

In the chorus of the hymn we sang, I know there is glory ahead for me because God loves me, Christ is living in me; at the end of the journey we will be more than conquerors.

Now, I want to talk to you tonight as your Dad, I want to let you know the whole story, I want you to see the complete picture that we are going to win at the end automatically means there might be some battles to fight.

In John 16 verse 33 Jesus Christ said, in this world you will have tribulations but be of good cheers I have overcome the world.

Whether we like it or not, there will be battles to fight; that was while in December we dealt with ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’.

Beloveth there will be rivers to cross,

Isaiah 33 verses 1 and 2, the Almighty God made a promise, He says in verse 2, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

‘When’, and not ‘if’.

When you go through the scriptures you would find out that all the great men had to cross rivers.

In Joshua chapter 2 from verse 7 to 17, when God say I want to glorify you today Joshua, today, you and your people will cross river Jordan - they had to cross a river.

The Lord says there is somebody who said Daddy you must speak to me tonight, He asked me to tell you, all will be well with you.

In 2Kings chapter 2…

Okay Daddy.

The Lord asked me to tell a woman, He said the fire in your womb has been put out; and that your visitor of joy will arrive soon.

In 2Kings chapter 2from verse 1 to 11, when God was going to take away Elijah publicly by whirlwind to heaven he had to cross river Jordan.

Elisha was with him; Elisha was about to be promoted;

If you read it from 2Kings chapter 2 from 1 to 13, Elisha walked with Elijah through that river Jordan before his promotion came.

In 2Kings chapter 2 from verse 14 to 22, Elisha had received a double portion of the spirit of Elijah, he has the power now, but he was on the other side of the river, and his ministry, his destiny was on the other side, he had to cross river Jordan again.

There will be rivers to cross if you are to fulfil your destiny.

I had been born-again for some years; and God had given me a hint even though I fought against it, that I will be serving Him full-time; I did not like it, but that is a river I had to cross.

I had to leave my work as a Lecturer at the University to come and head a church that was so rich, that the entire income of the church was less than my monthly salary of where I was coming from and we have forty people to pay.

I had to leave my job as a university lecturer, I had to come back to Lagos; and we were very rich in those days.

I had to cross the river of poverty that I thought I had left behind forever; I had to cross the river!

How long sir did it take you to cross the river?

Oh! I became General Overseer in 1981, we started living on this camp ground in 1985;

Even in those days there were occasions when we could not go to Lagos because to go to Lagos you must have money to pay at the togate – one naira going, one naira coming back,

Naira was big then o! The olden days of naira will return.

But we could not move out of the camp because we do not have two naira.

 And I used to tell my wife then, God knows that there is going to be an accident on the way that was while He want us to stay.

There was not going to be an accident, it was just that there was no naira.

But glory be to God, I have crossed that river now.

And I want to decree to some of you who are passing through one river or the other, the God who helped to cross my river safely will help you.

There will be fire to pass through!

The same Isaiah 43 verse 2, he says when you pass through the fire (‘when’), he says you will not be burnt.

He did not say you will not pass through.

You cannot be a through a Christian without passing through the river, without passing through the fire.

You know the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3 – how come did get into the fire?

Because they refused to compromised; they said if we have to burn let us burn but we are not to any idol.

And when you read Genesis chapter 22 from verse 1 to 18, when God told Abraham to go and sacrifice his only son Isaac, He make sure he had to travel even for three days before he could get to where he would do the sacrificing.

Don’t let anybody deceived you, those three days, Abraham was passing through fire.

Because God made it clear, your son Isaac whom thou loveth – I know you love the boy - go and sacrifice him.

Sooner or later, God is going to find out, is He number in your life? Do you love someone more than Him?

The goodnews is that you will pass through the fire but it won’t burn you.

Oh thank You Father.

I believe God is preparing for glory and I have my duty because you are my children to tell you the truth, the whole truth; and nothing but the truth.

I have told you the story before:

Way back in 1979 December, we are going to have program at Ijebu Igbo doing the Christmas period, and went to Ilesha to see my mother because I know I won’t be able to come during the Christmas because of that assignment.

I arrived at home to find out that my mother was dying,

And some of you will say and so what? What is important in that?

Haa! Maybe you don’t know that mothers are different from mothers; and children are different from children.

I was my mother last born, I was are only son; that woman loved me like nobody else, and I love her like nobody else.

I arrived home and the lady who opened the door say, haha, God has brought you; somebody told you?

I said, told me what?

Mama is dying.

Haa!

All that night, I sat by my mother side; but I had to leave the following morning; people are gathering at Ijebu-igbo; I was the one who invited them to come.

In those days there were no mobile phones, we don’t even have land phone in my house, I have made no arrangement at all; what am I going to do?

It looks as if my mum is going to die; and I have to come, abandon her as it were to come and attend to the work of God.

I was passing through fire!

I came; I told her: Mama, you know I love?

She said I know.

But I have to go.

She said, I understand.

Thank God that she understood.

All the days I was at the program in Ijebu-Igbo, there was no way I could contact home; I could not tell whether mama was alive or dead.

We finished the program; I had to wait to make sure that the school we used was put back in very tidy order before I could go home.

 I got home and find out that almost as soon as I left my mother was healed.

She lived for another eleven years.

It was just a test; God wanted to know if I have to choose between Him and my mum who will I choose?

When you pass through the fire, it will not burn you!

But don’t let me deceive you, don’t let anyone deceived you, there will be river to cross, there will be fire to pass through, but at the end of it, glory.

There will be problems at on time or the other with your relations.

Matthew 19 verse 36 says a man’s foes will be they of his own household.

Don’t say that nobody told you

Sooner or later, somebody very close in your family mighty be used of the devil, but the goodnews is you will overcome.

You know the story of David, 1Samuel 17, you can read it from verse 22 to 29…

Thank You Father.

I think Father is speaking so often because He knows that this might be a fairly tough talk.

He says I should tell someone because the wind is blowing your little flame will become a big fire.

In 1Samuel 17 from verse 22 to 29, when David got to the battlefront just before God was going to introduced him to the nation of Israel as the anointed one, the brother cornered him when David was saying: ‘what is going to be done to the one who killed this goliath?’

Hey! the brothers say, shut your little mouth, you arrogant brat, is because they anointed you above all of us?

But by the time you get to 1Samuel chapter 22 from verse 1 to 2, when David went to the cave of Adullam to hide, all his brother came to him.

Any relation that wants to stand between you and your destiny will one day come to you for help.

You know the story.

You know 1Samuel chapter 18 verse 5 to 11, it tells you that the father in-law was trying to kill David;

At the end of the day, David still became King.

But there will be family problems to deal with and yet there is glory ahead.

There will be river to cross, there will be fire to pass through, there will be family problems to deal with, and when God said that this is going to be a landmark year, we all shouted for joy;

But do you know that landmark victories only come after landmark battles?

Check yourself now!

When somebody is giving a testimony; when they give a testimony that you say that is small one now haa

When they say, help me shout hallelujah

You will say hallelujah get out of the way let us hear a big one – is that not so?

And when you hear of very serious problems that God had solved, then the rejoicing is greater.

The bigger the test, the bigger the testimony.

That is the way it goes.

Because you are my Beloveth children; I don’t want you to be children that have no back bone; you must know we are soldiers of Christ and we have battles to fight but at the end we shall win.

Let me mention just a few landmark battles and the glory that followed, because tonight you are going to pray serious prayers.

What happened when you are attacked by a lion?

Ordinary people don’t get attacked by a lion; it is only people who are anointed that get attacked by lion.

Go through the scriptures you will see for yourself.

Judges chapter 14 from verse 5 to 9, Samson, anointed from the womb was just going on his own journey and a lion roared at him.

It was not a sheep that shouted at even, not a goat; it was not even a dog, it was a lion.

The bigger the examination, the greater the promotion.

You know the rest of the story.

There are many of us who because we are Christians we face lions.

Some of you listening to me know that in your place of work there are bosses who will say because you refuse to join us, because you refuse to do things the way we do it, because you say no no I am a Christian I cannot do what you are asking me to do,

And they will say, in that case, stay where you are; you won’t get any promotion.

But in the case of Samson, after he took the lion and tore it into two, the Bible says later on when he was passing back, there was even honey in the carcass of the lion;

The lion roared; at the end of the day, Samson ate honey.

I am telling you my children, stand firm, God is on your side, at the end you win.

What about a bear?

In 1Samuel chapter 17 from verse 34 to 36…

Oh thank You Father.

The Lord asks me to tell someone, He said you have wept sore in private, He said you will laugh out loud in public. He asked me to tell you, many will laugh with you.

I think I have explained before, at one time or the other, a lion kills by choking people, comes from above, grabs you by the throat; first of all, choke you to death before he begins to eating – that is the lion.

Bosses, big once above you, will say, we will use our positions to push you down, to reduce you down to nothing; don’t worry, at the end, you win.

The bear on the other hand, is an animal that hugs people to death.

You have heard of the bear hug.

Occasionally, as a child of God, you will face people who pretend to love you but they want to destroy your destiny.

One of the songs that the choir sang; they sang about Joseph – Joseph in Potiphar’s house – Genesis chapter 39, you can read it from beginning to the end.

The wife of the master said, hey, you are a handsome young man, common! let us have fun.

And when the boy said, sorry ma, you are my boss wife!

She said, you are not the one asking me, I am the one offering you; nobody will know, I am the second-in-command in the house, and whatever I do is done.

Anyone who is pretending to be a friend who wants to lead you in a way of sin so that you can lose your destiny, in the Name that is above every other name that fellow will not come near you again.

Well, at the end of the day you know the story: Joseph refused, ended up in jail; but when he moved out of jail, he became Prime Minister of Egypt.

I have always joked about it; I was not there, but when Pharoah said that everybody must be bowing down to Joseph, I have a rough idea, the first place Joseph rode to would be Potiphar’s house,

I am sure he will be there standing outside and say, would somebody call me the wife of Potiphar?  

And I am sure when she come out, afraid for her life, she must have bowed.

Every wolf in sheep clothing that is operation in your home, operating in your place of work, operating in your church, the Almighty God will expose them.

And then what about Goliath?

In fact, you know the story, 1Samuel 17 from verse 34 to the end.

It was clear what was the purpose of satan in raising up goliath; the devil was aware that David has been anointed to become king.

All that goliath said was that, send me one man, if a defeat him, he will take over the kingdom.

Sooner or later, you might come against goliath, but the God I serve will give you victory.

He will give you victory because He will give you the grace to know what to do.

When I was praying in preparation for today, I remember a story I told one of my sons not too long ago.

When a goliath came up in my life and how God give me victory.

I was a young Christian, I love God passionately, I want to win souls, and then they announced that there is going to be festac – that secondary schools, teachers’ training colleges, will be closed, people will come all over the world and celebrate African heritage – all manners of idols and so on will be displayed.

And all of a sudden, I had this inspiration within me, very young Christian – I mean, we are talking about 1970-something,

I say ha, if the school is going to be closed, why don’t I invite all the students so that we can have a program, which we began to call Christ the Redeemers’ Congress.

We invite all this people, bring them together, feed them, …

I was a poor man but I had faith in a big God; I did not know where I will get the money to feed them.

So, I went to my father-in-the-Lord, shall we do this thing?

He said yes, my son, anything to win souls.

As soon as I got permission from my General Superintendent as we used to call them, I went to way, got the address of all secondary schools and teachers’ training colleges, sent letters to everyone of them inviting them to Ilesha Grammar School,

That was my school, and because I knew I would be able to get the boarding facility there.

And then the news leaked to one of our very senior Pastor, I mean big man;

When he saw what I was trying to do, he wrote me a letter and rained every form of curses upon me.

When I read the letter, what is this? What is my offence? I just want to win souls!

So, I took the letters to my father-in-the-Lord, I read the letter to him: that program I got your permission to do, see what is happening.

I thought my father-in-the-Lord would say I would send for him, I would tell him, don’t touch my son, …

My father-in-the-Lord said, go and beg him.

I said what!

He said go and beg him.

Beg him for what sir?

Beg him because I want to win souls! Beg him because I got your permission to do so!

He said you brought the letter to me,

Yes sir.

And you wanted my opinion?

I said yes sir.

He said, go and beg him.

Oh God!

I came down from upstairs where Papa was living, I got down to my car, and I open the door to my car and I froze, I could not go in.

Go and beg him!

And then God spoke,

God will speak to somebody tonight.

And God said to me, you are under his authority, do what he has said.

Haa! Okay Lord.

So, I went to the house of the man, great man of God as it were, prostrated;  

And oh, that gave him and opportunity, those things he could not write in the letter he was now able to release.

I said I won’t get up sir until you forgive me, I am sorry, just have mercy.

After sometime, he said, I know you are just a pretender, okay, go.

I could not understand; I could not understand the ways of God: why am I being punished for wanted to do the will of God?

Why would somebody that look up to as somebody who should leading me in the way of God begin to treat me like this, and my father-in-the-Lord said beg him?

Two years later, the big man of God spoke from the pulpit that it is clear to him that he is going to hell but that he will take three people with him.

He said he will take my father-in-the-Lord with him; he mentioned the name of somebody else, and then he mentioned my name.

When my father-in-the-Lord heard he sent for me and he said now you see the reason while I asked you to go and beg him?

Anyone who will take your crown, anyone who will take your kingdom, no matter the position, no matter the influence, in the Name that is above every other name, they will end under your feet.

Now, let me leave the rest to other time and come to the big question; because there is a big that some of you have had the opportunity of answering before.

That big question is Romans chapter 8 verse 31: he says, if God be for us, who can be against us?

Now, what is your answer to that question?

That is usually the answer of baby Christians because if you look that place very well God did not answer the question.

At the end of that passage, is only question mark: if God be for us who can be against us (question mark)?

And if God puts a question mark and He does not put an answer, be careful.

I mean, who can be against us if God is for us!

Witches, no way; herbalist, no way; whatever, no way.

Why?

Isaiah 54 verse 17 says there is no weapon formed against thee that shall prosper.

Oh, witches and wizards in your father side and mother side, don’t worry yourself about them their weapons are already neutralized.

What about the devil himself; forget those small small chickens like witches, wizards, herbalist, what about the devil, original devil himself.

According to James chapter 4 verse 7…

Thank You Father.

I want to say amen to this before I tell you.

The Lord asked me to tell somebody, I will fulfill My promises to you rapidly.

I want to say amen to this one also.

The Lord said somebody will soon testify and the testimony will be I have seen the goodness of God in the land of the living.

Amen Daddy. Thank You.

James chapter 4 verse 7 says if only you will submit yourself to God, you resist the devil and the devil will flee for you.

So, if God is for us who can be against us?  

Not witches, not wizards, not herbalist, not false prophets, not even the devil their master, only one fellow can be against you even if God wants to be for you and that is ‘you’.

You are the only one with the free will to stop God from giving you victory – you are the only one.

Isaiah 59 from verse 1 to 2 says, the hand of the Lord is shortened that He cannot save, neither His ear heavy that He cannot hear, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid His face from you.

So, even if you call, He won’t hear - only you!

A thousand soldiers rose against Samson, he killed them all; but one little girl brought him down.

David the giant killer, the one that the Almighty God took from nowhere, promoted him to be king, decided to sleep when he should be going to war; woke up and saw a woman bathing; and one thing led to another.

He impregnated the woman, kill the husband and, brought the woman to the house pretending to be a great king looking after the widow of one of his dead soldiers.

When the Almighty God came and said son, something like this happened in your kingdom,

And he said whoever did it is going to die

God said fine, you are the one.

He surrendered, he trembled, he realized I have blown it.

God said fine, I forgive you; you won’t die but God said the sword will never depart from his household.

There is glory ahead provided you are careful.

Ask my children, those who are close to me, they will tell you that whenever will pray and say ask God for something special, and I want to ask that something special for myself, my prayer is:

One, God don’t let me offend you.

Because there is no quarrel between me and God can face the world.

One with God is a majority.

But if God is against you, who can be for you?

O you say Daddy, this does not look like Holy Ghost night, this looks like digging deep.

I know, because God wants to do something in you tonight so that next month you can have joy unspeakable.

I am not just your pastor, I am not just your father-in-the-Lord, I am your coach.

Oh, that is what I am!

This old man, is too tough…

Yes, you are going to heaven, you know?

Whatever I have to do to get you there I will do it; I don’t want to be popular,

If you don’t like me that is alright, once I see you heaven that will be good enough.

There are some of us who had been pretending to be a child of God and we are not.

I don’t want to waste my time on people who are not going to heaven.

How many of you are going to heaven with me?

Are you sure?

Say amen loud and clear.

Do you know that many of us have heard of the power of my God, you have heard the testimonies upon testimonies upon testimonies of people when they find themselves deep in a very deep river, deep in a very very furnace of fire, and have called on the God of Adeboye,

Adeboye is not the one they are calling is his God; and believe me honestly my God can do anything.

And I want the best for all my children - the very best.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

That is while I am not surprise that some people would get angry because I asked you to fast for a hundred days.

Last year, somebody, one reverend said that what kind of God is that God who will ask people to fast for hundred days before He will answer; he did not even know hundred days was coming.

The wind is blowing my children; is a landmark year, and you are going to end this year gloriously.

But some of you are not even fasting!

Some of you are not even obeying simple instructions!

Some of you are not even listening to me; and you want my God to perform miracle for you!

You don’t want Him to look at you and say, you, and you say you are son of Adeboye; how come this and this can be traced to you?

Did they not say, like father like son.

So, tonight, we are going to pray, and the prayer is not going to be a fifteen minutes prayer, it is going to be a very serious prayer; and I will only stop you when the Holy Spirit ask me to stop you.

Do I hear amen to that.

Don’t worry, is not even twelve midnight yet.

You know, when we started the Holy Ghost Service, we used to go from 7pm to 6am.

We only began to cut down time because we are creating problem at the express way.

Now, the express way is clear; how many of you we want us to return to from 7 to 6am?

Not many people said amen to that o.

All my children are going to be greater than I, that means they will be toughened.

A soldier who is going to be victory must be well trained, well prepared.

Anyway, we will leave some of this till the future.

Some of you who are here and your salvation is not the kind that will say bye-bye to sin, you better come and get the genuine one because the word of God made is clear that if you are born of God you don’t sin

That is what God says, it does not man says; it does not matter what any other preacher maybe saying.

Be holy for I AM holy – that is what said.

So, if you know you that you claim to be born-again but you are still living in sin, you better run forward and come get genuine salvation; the kind of salvation that will look at sin as an abomination.

So, I am going to count from one to ten, if you want to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, come and stand before altar and we can pray to God together.

Come if only you are serious. If you are not serious stay there that is not problem. But if you are coming to Him tonight you must be very serious, must really really be a true child of the living God.

So, I am counting now,

One,

God bless you my brother. God bless you those of you who are coming.

Two, three,

Those who are clapping are not even clapping as if they are clapping for Jesus.

Four, five, six, seven, eight,

Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up,

Nine,

Now, those of you who are on the way keep coming, pray as you come; and those of you who are already in front cry to Jesus Christ,

Say, Lord, I am serious tonight, I don’t want to have anything to do with the devil anymore; save my soul, forgive all my sins, come and be my Lord, come and be my Savior, and I will serve You for the rest of my life. Takeover my life Lord, come and dwell in me; and I know if you dwell in me, my hope will be glory; I want to be child of true living God Lord, please save my soul.

And the rest of us shall we please stretch our hands towards this people and intercede for them that the one who saved our soul will save their own souls also, that the Almighty God will wash them clean with His powerful blood, that He will write their names in the book of life, and they will serve God till very end.

Those of you on the way hurry up now because I will soon be praying for salvation.

Lord, please save my soul, save my soul, be my Lord, be my Saviour, come and dwell in me so that my hope will be glory.

Thank You Father.

In mighty name we have prayed.

My Father and my God I want to say thank You. Thank You for Your children who have come forward tonight to surrender their lives to you, please Lord, receive them in Jesus’ name. forgive all their sins in Jesus’ name; let Your blood wash them clean in Jesus’ name. As you save their souls, write their names in the book of life; receive them into the family of God, and let them serve You for the rest of their lives. Please don’t let them go back into the world of sin. And anytime they call on you answer them by fire.

In Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Amen. Amen.

Now, those of you who have come forward I want to rejoice with you because from now on I will be praying for you.

So, I am going to need your names, your address, and your prayer request.

The Counselors are already, they will collect the information I want, and they will pass it onto me, and I promise you I will be praying for you.

You want to put down your prayer points.

Number one of course, you want to thank the Almighty God that He has allowed you to hear what you have heard tonight. Thank Him. Blessed are the ears that have heard what you have heard tonight. So, thank Him for that.

Number two: you will say Father, whatever I have to pass through please just be by my side; whether river or fire, just be by my side.

Number three: Father, please don’t let me lose Your love so that I can remain more than conqueror in all the battles of life.

Number four: Father, don’t let me be my own enemy.

Number five: Let my surrender to You be complete tonight so I can resist the devil and he will flee from me.

Number six: Father, let Your glory in my life dazzle my enemies. Let Your glory in my life be so great that my enemies will be dazzled.

Number seven: please Father, answer my neighbours too.

Number eight: that is your own individual prayer point – whatever you want from God.

The Altar is open, and be ready to pray, this is not five minutes prayer, we want to really really talk to God, you must be very very serious in your discussion with Him.

Thank You Father, glory be to Your holy name.

Let us begin to bring our prayer to a close.

In Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

The God I serve will grant your request. That holy One of Israel with whom nothing shall be impossible will grant your request. Whatever may be your present situation, He will not abandon you. You will win. You will laugh last. By the special grace of God, you will not annoy Him. He will not forsake You. He will not abandon you. If you have to pass through the river, He will be with you. If you to pass through the fire, He will be with you. No goliath will be able to stand before me, and I will not be my own enemy.

Now, Colossians 1 verse 27:

27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The sum total of the Christian race is this: ‘at last, we win’.

That is the sum total – from the day you become born-again, from the day Christ begins to dwell in you; the moment you become a child of God, you become a winner.

You are going to win.

In Isaiah chapter 3 verse 10, the Almighty says in His word, say ye to the righteous, it shall be well with it him.

Whether the enemies like it or not, is going to be well with you, you know!

Tell your neighbour, it is going to be well with me whether the enemy like it or not.

Prophesy to yourself loud and clear and say in the mighty name of Jesus Adeboye will laugh last.

You cannot even say that, you cannot even prophesy to yourself!

In 1John chapter 3 from verse 1 to 3, the Bible says, he might not yet appear what you are going to be at the end of the day but one thing is clear when we see the Lord we shall be like Him – and that is serious!

You know, one day, we are going to be exactly like Jesus.

Romans chapter 8 verse 37 says one thing is certain, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

In the chorus of the hymn we sang, I know there is glory ahead for me because God loves me, Christ is living in me; at the end of the journey we will be more than conquerors.

Now, I want to talk to you tonight as your Dad, I want to let you know the whole story, I want you to see the complete picture that we are going to win at the end automatically means there might be some battles to fight.

In John 16 verse 33 Jesus Christ said, in this world you will have tribulations but be of good cheers I have overcome the world.

Whether we like it or not, there will be battles to fight; that was while in December we dealt with ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’.

Beloveth there will be rivers to cross,

Isaiah 33 verses 1 and 2, the Almighty God made a promise, He says in verse 2, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

‘When’, and not ‘if’.

When you go through the scriptures you would find out that all the great men had to cross rivers.

In Joshua chapter 2 from verse 7 to 17, when God say I want to glorify you today Joshua, today, you and your people will cross river Jordan - they had to cross a river.

The Lord says there is somebody who said Daddy you must speak to me tonight, He asked me to tell you, all will be well with you.

In 2Kings chapter 2…

Okay Daddy.

The Lord asked me to tell a woman, He said the fire in your womb has been put out; and that your visitor of joy will arrive soon.

In 2Kings chapter 2from verse 1 to 11, when God was going to take away Elijah publicly by whirlwind to heaven he had to cross river Jordan.

Elisha was with him; Elisha was about to be promoted;

If you read it from 2Kings chapter 2 from 1 to 13, Elisha walked with Elijah through that river Jordan before his promotion came.

In 2Kings chapter 2 from verse 14 to 22, Elisha had received a double portion of the spirit of Elijah, he has the power now, but he was on the other side of the river, and his ministry, his destiny was on the other side, he had to cross river Jordan again.

There will be rivers to cross if you are to fulfil your destiny.

I had been born-again for some years; and God had given me a hint even though I fought against it, that I will be serving Him full-time; I did not like it, but that is a river I had to cross.

I had to leave my work as a Lecturer at the University to come and head a church that was so rich, that the entire income of the church was less than my monthly salary of where I was coming from and we have forty people to pay.

I had to leave my job as a university lecturer, I had to come back to Lagos; and we were very rich in those days.

I had to cross the river of poverty that I thought I had left behind forever; I had to cross the river!

How long sir did it take you to cross the river?

Oh! I became General Overseer in 1981, we started living on this camp ground in 1985;

Even in those days there were occasions when we could not go to Lagos because to go to Lagos you must have money to pay at the togate – one naira going, one naira coming back,

Naira was big then o! The olden days of naira will return.

But we could not move out of the camp because we do not have two naira.

 And I used to tell my wife then, God knows that there is going to be an accident on the way that was while He want us to stay.

There was not going to be an accident, it was just that there was no naira.

But glory be to God, I have crossed that river now.

And I want to decree to some of you who are passing through one river or the other, the God who helped to cross my river safely will help you.

There will be fire to pass through!

The same Isaiah 43 verse 2, he says when you pass through the fire (‘when’), he says you will not be burnt.

He did not say you will not pass through.

You cannot be a through a Christian without passing through the river, without passing through the fire.

You know the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3 – how come did get into the fire?

Because they refused to compromised; they said if we have to burn let us burn but we are not to any idol.

And when you read Genesis chapter 22 from verse 1 to 18, when God told Abraham to go and sacrifice his only son Isaac, He make sure he had to travel even for three days before he could get to where he would do the sacrificing.

Don’t let anybody deceived you, those three days, Abraham was passing through fire.

Because God made it clear, your son Isaac whom thou loveth – I know you love the boy - go and sacrifice him.

Sooner or later, God is going to find out, is He number in your life? Do you love someone more than Him?

The goodnews is that you will pass through the fire but it won’t burn you.

Oh thank You Father.

I believe God is preparing for glory and I have my duty because you are my children to tell you the truth, the whole truth; and nothing but the truth.

I have told you the story before:

Way back in 1979 December, we are going to have program at Ijebu Igbo doing the Christmas period, and went to Ilesha to see my mother because I know I won’t be able to come during the Christmas because of that assignment.

I arrived at home to find out that my mother was dying,

And some of you will say and so what? What is important in that?

Haa! Maybe you don’t know that mothers are different from mothers; and children are different from children.

I was my mother last born, I was are only son; that woman loved me like nobody else, and I love her like nobody else.

I arrived home and the lady who opened the door say, haha, God has brought you; somebody told you?

I said, told me what?

Mama is dying.

Haa!

All that night, I sat by my mother side; but I had to leave the following morning; people are gathering at Ijebu-igbo; I was the one who invited them to come.

In those days there were no mobile phones, we don’t even have land phone in my house, I have made no arrangement at all; what am I going to do?

It looks as if my mum is going to die; and I have to come, abandon her as it were to come and attend to the work of God.

I was passing through fire!

I came; I told her: Mama, you know I love?

She said I know.

But I have to go.

She said, I understand.

Thank God that she understood.

All the days I was at the program in Ijebu-Igbo, there was no way I could contact home; I could not tell whether mama was alive or dead.

We finished the program; I had to wait to make sure that the school we used was put back in very tidy order before I could go home.

 I got home and find out that almost as soon as I left my mother was healed.

She lived for another eleven years.

It was just a test; God wanted to know if I have to choose between Him and my mum who will I choose?

When you pass through the fire, it will not burn you!

But don’t let me deceive you, don’t let anyone deceived you, there will be river to cross, there will be fire to pass through, but at the end of it, glory.

There will be problems at on time or the other with your relations.

Matthew 19 verse 36 says a man’s foes will be they of his own household.

Don’t say that nobody told you

Sooner or later, somebody very close in your family mighty be used of the devil, but the goodnews is you will overcome.

You know the story of David, 1Samuel 17, you can read it from verse 22 to 29…

Thank You Father.

I think Father is speaking so often because He knows that this might be a fairly tough talk.

He says I should tell someone because the wind is blowing your little flame will become a big fire.

In 1Samuel 17 from verse 22 to 29, when David got to the battlefront just before God was going to introduced him to the nation of Israel as the anointed one, the brother cornered him when David was saying: ‘what is going to be done to the one who killed this goliath?’

Hey! the brothers say, shut your little mouth, you arrogant brat, is because they anointed you above all of us?

But by the time you get to 1Samuel chapter 22 from verse 1 to 2, when David went to the cave of Adullam to hide, all his brother came to him.

Any relation that wants to stand between you and your destiny will one day come to you for help.

You know the story.

You know 1Samuel chapter 18 verse 5 to 11, it tells you that the father in-law was trying to kill David;

At the end of the day, David still became King.

But there will be family problems to deal with and yet there is glory ahead.

There will be river to cross, there will be fire to pass through, there will be family problems to deal with, and when God said that this is going to be a landmark year, we all shouted for joy;

But do you know that landmark victories only come after landmark battles?

Check yourself now!

When somebody is giving a testimony; when they give a testimony that you say that is small one now haa

When they say, help me shout hallelujah

You will say hallelujah get out of the way let us hear a big one – is that not so?

And when you hear of very serious problems that God had solved, then the rejoicing is greater.

The bigger the test, the bigger the testimony.

That is the way it goes.

Because you are my Beloveth children; I don’t want you to be children that have no back bone; you must know we are soldiers of Christ and we have battles to fight but at the end we shall win.

Let me mention just a few landmark battles and the glory that followed, because tonight you are going to pray serious prayers.

What happened when you are attacked by a lion?

Ordinary people don’t get attacked by a lion; it is only people who are anointed that get attacked by lion.

Go through the scriptures you will see for yourself.

Judges chapter 14 from verse 5 to 9, Samson, anointed from the womb was just going on his own journey and a lion roared at him.

It was not a sheep that shouted at even, not a goat; it was not even a dog, it was a lion.

The bigger the examination, the greater the promotion.

You know the rest of the story.

There are many of us who because we are Christians we face lions.

Some of you listening to me know that in your place of work there are bosses who will say because you refuse to join us, because you refuse to do things the way we do it, because you say no no I am a Christian I cannot do what you are asking me to do,

And they will say, in that case, stay where you are; you won’t get any promotion.

But in the case of Samson, after he took the lion and tore it into two, the Bible says later on when he was passing back, there was even honey in the carcass of the lion;

The lion roared; at the end of the day, Samson ate honey.

I am telling you my children, stand firm, God is on your side, at the end you win.

What about a bear?

In 1Samuel chapter 17 from verse 34 to 36…

Oh thank You Father.

The Lord asks me to tell someone, He said you have wept sore in private, He said you will laugh out loud in public. He asked me to tell you, many will laugh with you.

I think I have explained before, at one time or the other, a lion kills by choking people, comes from above, grabs you by the throat; first of all, choke you to death before he begins to eating – that is the lion.

Bosses, big once above you, will say, we will use our positions to push you down, to reduce you down to nothing; don’t worry, at the end, you win.

The bear on the other hand, is an animal that hugs people to death.

You have heard of the bear hug.

Occasionally, as a child of God, you will face people who pretend to love you but they want to destroy your destiny.

One of the songs that the choir sang; they sang about Joseph – Joseph in Potiphar’s house – Genesis chapter 39, you can read it from beginning to the end.

The wife of the master said, hey, you are a handsome young man, common! let us have fun.

And when the boy said, sorry ma, you are my boss wife!

She said, you are not the one asking me, I am the one offering you; nobody will know, I am the second-in-command in the house, and whatever I do is done.

Anyone who is pretending to be a friend who wants to lead you in a way of sin so that you can lose your destiny, in the Name that is above every other name that fellow will not come near you again.

Well, at the end of the day you know the story: Joseph refused, ended up in jail; but when he moved out of jail, he became Prime Minister of Egypt.

I have always joked about it; I was not there, but when Pharoah said that everybody must be bowing down to Joseph, I have a rough idea, the first place Joseph rode to would be Potiphar’s house,

I am sure he will be there standing outside and say, would somebody call me the wife of Potiphar?  

And I am sure when she come out, afraid for her life, she must have bowed.

Every wolf in sheep clothing that is operation in your home, operating in your place of work, operating in your church, the Almighty God will expose them.

And then what about Goliath?

In fact, you know the story, 1Samuel 17 from verse 34 to the end.

It was clear what was the purpose of satan in raising up goliath; the devil was aware that David has been anointed to become king.

All that goliath said was that, send me one man, if a defeat him, he will take over the kingdom.

Sooner or later, you might come against goliath, but the God I serve will give you victory.

He will give you victory because He will give you the grace to know what to do.

When I was praying in preparation for today, I remember a story I told one of my sons not too long ago.

When a goliath came up in my life and how God give me victory.

I was a young Christian, I love God passionately, I want to win souls, and then they announced that there is going to be festac – that secondary schools, teachers’ training colleges, will be closed, people will come all over the world and celebrate African heritage – all manners of idols and so on will be displayed.

And all of a sudden, I had this inspiration within me, very young Christian – I mean, we are talking about 1970-something,

I say ha, if the school is going to be closed, why don’t I invite all the students so that we can have a program, which we began to call Christ the Redeemers’ Congress.

We invite all this people, bring them together, feed them, …

I was a poor man but I had faith in a big God; I did not know where I will get the money to feed them.

So, I went to my father-in-the-Lord, shall we do this thing?

He said yes, my son, anything to win souls.

As soon as I got permission from my General Superintendent as we used to call them, I went to way, got the address of all secondary schools and teachers’ training colleges, sent letters to everyone of them inviting them to Ilesha Grammar School,

That was my school, and because I knew I would be able to get the boarding facility there.

And then the news leaked to one of our very senior Pastor, I mean big man;

When he saw what I was trying to do, he wrote me a letter and rained every form of curses upon me.

When I read the letter, what is this? What is my offence? I just want to win souls!

So, I took the letters to my father-in-the-Lord, I read the letter to him: that program I got your permission to do, see what is happening.

I thought my father-in-the-Lord would say I would send for him, I would tell him, don’t touch my son, …

My father-in-the-Lord said, go and beg him.

I said what!

He said go and beg him.

Beg him for what sir?

Beg him because I want to win souls! Beg him because I got your permission to do so!

He said you brought the letter to me,

Yes sir.

And you wanted my opinion?

I said yes sir.

He said, go and beg him.

Oh God!

I came down from upstairs where Papa was living, I got down to my car, and I open the door to my car and I froze, I could not go in.

Go and beg him!

And then God spoke,

God will speak to somebody tonight.

And God said to me, you are under his authority, do what he has said.

Haa! Okay Lord.

So, I went to the house of the man, great man of God as it were, prostrated;  

And oh, that gave him and opportunity, those things he could not write in the letter he was now able to release.

I said I won’t get up sir until you forgive me, I am sorry, just have mercy.

After sometime, he said, I know you are just a pretender, okay, go.

I could not understand; I could not understand the ways of God: why am I being punished for wanted to do the will of God?

Why would somebody that look up to as somebody who should leading me in the way of God begin to treat me like this, and my father-in-the-Lord said beg him?

Two years later, the big man of God spoke from the pulpit that it is clear to him that he is going to hell but that he will take three people with him.

He said he will take my father-in-the-Lord with him; he mentioned the name of somebody else, and then he mentioned my name.

When my father-in-the-Lord heard he sent for me and he said now you see the reason while I asked you to go and beg him?

Anyone who will take your crown, anyone who will take your kingdom, no matter the position, no matter the influence, in the Name that is above every other name, they will end under your feet.

Now, let me leave the rest to other time and come to the big question; because there is a big that some of you have had the opportunity of answering before.

That big question is Romans chapter 8 verse 31: he says, if God be for us, who can be against us?

Now, what is your answer to that question?

That is usually the answer of baby Christians because if you look that place very well God did not answer the question.

At the end of that passage, is only question mark: if God be for us who can be against us (question mark)?

And if God puts a question mark and He does not put an answer, be careful.

I mean, who can be against us if God is for us!

Witches, no way; herbalist, no way; whatever, no way.

Why?

Isaiah 54 verse 17 says there is no weapon formed against thee that shall prosper.

Oh, witches and wizards in your father side and mother side, don’t worry yourself about them their weapons are already neutralized.

What about the devil himself; forget those small small chickens like witches, wizards, herbalist, what about the devil, original devil himself.

According to James chapter 4 verse 7…

Thank You Father.

I want to say amen to this before I tell you.

The Lord asked me to tell somebody, I will fulfill My promises to you rapidly.

I want to say amen to this one also.

The Lord said somebody will soon testify and the testimony will be I have seen the goodness of God in the land of the living.

Amen Daddy. Thank You.

James chapter 4 verse 7 says if only you will submit yourself to God, you resist the devil and the devil will flee for you.

So, if God is for us who can be against us?  

Not witches, not wizards, not herbalist, not false prophets, not even the devil their master, only one fellow can be against you even if God wants to be for you and that is ‘you’.

You are the only one with the free will to stop God from giving you victory – you are the only one.

Isaiah 59 from verse 1 to 2 says, the hand of the Lord is shortened that He cannot save, neither His ear heavy that He cannot hear, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid His face from you.

So, even if you call, He won’t hear - only you!

A thousand soldiers rose against Samson, he killed them all; but one little girl brought him down.

David the giant killer, the one that the Almighty God took from nowhere, promoted him to be king, decided to sleep when he should be going to war; woke up and saw a woman bathing; and one thing led to another.

He impregnated the woman, kill the husband and, brought the woman to the house pretending to be a great king looking after the widow of one of his dead soldiers.

When the Almighty God came and said son, something like this happened in your kingdom,

And he said whoever did it is going to die

God said fine, you are the one.

He surrendered, he trembled, he realized I have blown it.

God said fine, I forgive you; you won’t die but God said the sword will never depart from his household.

There is glory ahead provided you are careful.

Ask my children, those who are close to me, they will tell you that whenever will pray and say ask God for something special, and I want to ask that something special for myself, my prayer is:

One, God don’t let me offend you.

Because there is no quarrel between me and God can face the world.

One with God is a majority.

But if God is against you, who can be for you?

O you say Daddy, this does not look like Holy Ghost night, this looks like digging deep.

I know, because God wants to do something in you tonight so that next month you can have joy unspeakable.

I am not just your pastor, I am not just your father-in-the-Lord, I am your coach.

Oh, that is what I am!

This old man, is too tough…

Yes, you are going to heaven, you know?

Whatever I have to do to get you there I will do it; I don’t want to be popular,

If you don’t like me that is alright, once I see you heaven that will be good enough.

There are some of us who had been pretending to be a child of God and we are not.

I don’t want to waste my time on people who are not going to heaven.

How many of you are going to heaven with me?

Are you sure?

Say amen loud and clear.

Do you know that many of us have heard of the power of my God, you have heard the testimonies upon testimonies upon testimonies of people when they find themselves deep in a very deep river, deep in a very very furnace of fire, and have called on the God of Adeboye,

Adeboye is not the one they are calling is his God; and believe me honestly my God can do anything.

And I want the best for all my children - the very best.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

That is while I am not surprise that some people would get angry because I asked you to fast for a hundred days.

Last year, somebody, one reverend said that what kind of God is that God who will ask people to fast for hundred days before He will answer; he did not even know hundred days was coming.

The wind is blowing my children; is a landmark year, and you are going to end this year gloriously.

But some of you are not even fasting!

Some of you are not even obeying simple instructions!

Some of you are not even listening to me; and you want my God to perform miracle for you!

You don’t want Him to look at you and say, you, and you say you are son of Adeboye; how come this and this can be traced to you?

Did they not say, like father like son.

So, tonight, we are going to pray, and the prayer is not going to be a fifteen minutes prayer, it is going to be a very serious prayer; and I will only stop you when the Holy Spirit ask me to stop you.

Do I hear amen to that.

Don’t worry, is not even twelve midnight yet.

You know, when we started the Holy Ghost Service, we used to go from 7pm to 6am.

We only began to cut down time because we are creating problem at the express way.

Now, the express way is clear; how many of you we want us to return to from 7 to 6am?

Not many people said amen to that o.

All my children are going to be greater than I, that means they will be toughened.

A soldier who is going to be victory must be well trained, well prepared.

Anyway, we will leave some of this till the future.

Some of you who are here and your salvation is not the kind that will say bye-bye to sin, you better come and get the genuine one because the word of God made is clear that if you are born of God you don’t sin

That is what God says, it does not man says; it does not matter what any other preacher maybe saying.

Be holy for I AM holy – that is what said.

So, if you know you that you claim to be born-again but you are still living in sin, you better run forward and come get genuine salvation; the kind of salvation that will look at sin as an abomination.

So, I am going to count from one to ten, if you want to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, come and stand before altar and we can pray to God together.

Come if only you are serious. If you are not serious stay there that is not problem. But if you are coming to Him tonight you must be very serious, must really really be a true child of the living God.

So, I am counting now,

One,

God bless you my brother. God bless you those of you who are coming.

Two, three,

Those who are clapping are not even clapping as if they are clapping for Jesus.

Four, five, six, seven, eight,

Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up,

Nine,

Now, those of you who are on the way keep coming, pray as you come; and those of you who are already in front cry to Jesus Christ,

Say, Lord, I am serious tonight, I don’t want to have anything to do with the devil anymore; save my soul, forgive all my sins, come and be my Lord, come and be my Savior, and I will serve You for the rest of my life. Takeover my life Lord, come and dwell in me; and I know if you dwell in me, my hope will be glory; I want to be child of true living God Lord, please save my soul.

And the rest of us shall we please stretch our hands towards this people and intercede for them that the one who saved our soul will save their own souls also, that the Almighty God will wash them clean with His powerful blood, that He will write their names in the book of life, and they will serve God till very end.

Those of you on the way hurry up now because I will soon be praying for salvation.

Lord, please save my soul, save my soul, be my Lord, be my Saviour, come and dwell in me so that my hope will be glory.

Thank You Father.

In mighty name we have prayed.

My Father and my God I want to say thank You. Thank You for Your children who have come forward tonight to surrender their lives to you, please Lord, receive them in Jesus’ name. forgive all their sins in Jesus’ name; let Your blood wash them clean in Jesus’ name. As you save their souls, write their names in the book of life; receive them into the family of God, and let them serve You for the rest of their lives. Please don’t let them go back into the world of sin. And anytime they call on you answer them by fire.

In Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

Now, those of you who have come forward I want to rejoice with you because from now on I will be praying for you.

So, I am going to need your names, your address, and your prayer request.

The Counselors are already, they will collect the information I want, and they will pass it onto me, and I promise you I will be praying for you.

Number one of course, you want to thank the Almighty God that He has allowed you to hear what you have heard tonight. Thank Him. Blessed are the ears that have heard what you have heard tonight. So, thank Him for that.

Number two: you will say Father, whatever I have to pass through please just be by my side; whether river or fire, just be by my side.

Number three: Father, please don’t let me lose Your love so that I can remain more than conqueror in all the battles of life.

Number four: Father, don’t let me be my own enemy.

Number five: Let my surrender to You be complete tonight so I can resist the devil and he will flee from me.

Number six: Father, let Your glory in my life dazzle my enemies. Let Your glory in my life be so great that my enemies will be dazzled.

Number seven: please Father, answer my neighbours too.

Number eight: that is your own individual prayer point – whatever you want from God.

The Altar is open, and be ready to pray, this is not five minutes prayer, we want to really really talk to God, you must be very very serious in your discussion with Him.

Thank You Father, glory be to Your holy name.

Let us begin to bring our prayer to a close.

In Jesus mighty name we have prayed.

The God I serve will grant your request. That holy One of Israel with whom nothing shall be impossible will grant your request. Whatever may be your present situation, He will not abandon you. You will win. You will laugh last. By the special grace of God, you will not annoy Him. He will not forsake You. He will not abandon you. If you have to pass through the river, He will be with you. If you to pass through the fire, He will be with you. No goliath will be able to stand before me, and I will not be my own enemy.
